ABOUT THE LEAGUE:

• All games are played at John Fry Park in Edmonton.

• This is a women's only league (16+).

• Our league is open to bantam teams up to master teams.

• We offer 3-4 divisions: Competitive (A division) to recreational.

• Our league starts in May and runs into early August.

• All teams in this league are club teams who are responsible for filling their rosters (and responsible for own tryouts and fee collection).

• We have 2 annual meetings (one in the spring where we set league fees and discuss rule changes and one in the fall where bonds are returned and elections are held).

• All games are officiated by E.D.S.U.A. umpires.

• The league is ran by a Program Coordinator during the season & the executive in the off-season.

HISTORY:

• THE  LADIES LEAGUE WAS FORMED IN 1958. 

• IT WAS ORIGINALLY CALLED THE GREATER EDMONTON GIRLS FASTBALL LEAGUE.

• A YEAR LATER, THE NAME WAS CHANGED TO THE GREATER EDMONTON WOMEN'S INTERMEDIATE FASTBALL LEAGUE ALSO KNOWN AS THE EDMONTON WOMEN'S FASTBALL LEAGUE (E.W.F.L.).

• AS THE SEASONS WENT BY, THE LEAGUE BECAME THE EDMONTON LADIES FASTBALL LEAGUE (E.L.F.L.).

• THE NAME EDMONTON LADIES SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION (E.L.S.A.) WAS ADOPTED IN 1979.

• 2008 MARKED THE LEAGUE'S 50TH ANNIVERSARY.
